Pattern Description:

The Marichel Hobo Shoulder bag was designed with intention along with purpose. Marichel offers a timeless slouchy hobo feel with a refined curvy appeal that offers a contoured top and an adjustable shoulder strap that allows it to rest comfortably on your shoulder. Best of all the pattern includes two sizes, an Everyday Hobo ample space for your day-to-day essentials while the Oversized version is for your girls that like to carry a little bit more!

In search of a hobo on the smaller side? Or do you need big and spacious, with room for everything? The Marichel Hobo pattern offers two sizes:

Finished Size:

Everyday Hobo Measures:    H: 9” from center curve to bottom.

                                              W: 12” at the widest point.

                                                D: 4” at bottom width, 3” at the base.                                                    

Oversized Hobo Measures:   H: 10” from center curve to bottom.

                                               W: 15” at the widest point.

                                               D: 5” at bottom width, 3 1/2” at the base.            

Materials Required: 

FABRICS AND INTERFACINGS:

• ½ yard (⅔ yard for Large) 44” wide Quilting Weight Cotton - Main Fabric

• ½ yard (¾ yard for Large) 44” wide Quilting Weight Cotton - Lining Fabric

• ¼ yard (¼ yard for Large) Vinyl, Leather, Cork, or a non-directional Quilting Cotton weight - Contrast Fabric

• 1 ½ yards (2 ½” yards for Large) Fusible Pellon SF 101 or a woven shaping interfacing

• ⅓ yard (½ yard) Fusible Fleece -TP971F-Pellon Fleece Thermolam Plus

• 1 Piece Peltex 72F Ultra Firm 2-sided Fusible at least 3” x 9” (3 ½” x 11” for Large)

ZIPPERS:

• 1- 14” (16” for Large) Zipper- for Exterior Top Zipper (I recommend a #5 Nylon Coil Purse Zipper but a #3 can be used)

• 1- 9” Zipper- for Interior Pocket

HARDWARE:

•  2- ¾” to 1” Grommets

• 2- 1” Spring Gate Rings (if you are using trigger hooks that have an interior measurement of at least ¾” you will not need the gate rings)

•  2- 1” Swivel Hooks

• 1- 1” Strap Slider

OTHER:

• Coordinating thread

• Removable Fabric Marker (I recommend a Frixion gel pen as it can be removed by pressing with an iron)

• Microtex (Sharp) Needle 80/12 –Recommended for topstitching through the thicker parts.

• Fabric glue or a temporary bond fabric glue stick (optional).
